Wastewater Plant Intern
The South Adams County Water & Sanitation District, dedicated to providing affordable and sustainable water resources to its customers, is seeking an individual to assist our Industrial Pretreatment Department.
This position assist pretreatment personnel in the location and generation of specific locations for grease and sand/oil interceptors. A GPS device will be used to establish exact points of reference for each of the District’s grease and sand/oil interceptors.
This position will also provide support to pretreatment staff, collecting industrial waste survey samples, permitted industry samples, and local limit’s samples. They will also transport the water quality samples to the laboratory for analyses as well as prepare sampling equipment and ensure sample bottle orders are made to re-stock the bottles for future sampling events.
Additional duties will consist of assisting the commercial backflow programs specialist with backflow inspections and preparation of reminder letters.
Qualified candidates should be enrolled in an Environmental Science related degree program or have field sampling experience. A valid, current Driver’s License is required.
Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary. Ability to work independently with solid problem solving skills, attention to details and have sound communication skills.
This position may require work in a variety of locations and conditions. Ability to lift manhole covers is necessary.
Successful candidate will be required to complete a drug screen and background check prior to employment.
