The South Adams County Water & Sanitation District (SACWSD), dedicated to providing affordable and sustainable water resources to its customers, is seeking an individual at our Klein Water Treatment Plant for the position of Chemist.
This position aids in the efficient operations of the District’s water quality laboratory to meet federal and state drinking water regulations.
- Collects and analyzes water samples
- Conducts chemical, physical and bacteriological exams of water throughout the system
- Ensures compliance with drinking water regulations
- Operates, maintains and troubleshoots analytical instrumentation
- Maintains accurate data records
- Implements effective lab quality control measures
- Investigates water quality and system pressure complaints
- Prepares laboratory reports
Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid, current Colorado Driver’s License required. A minimum of 3 years related experience in water or wastewater utilities or with water laboratory methods. Experience with GC/MS, LC, ion chromatographyanalysis required. Strong technical and mathematical aptitude, with troubleshooting and problem solving abilities. Working knowledge of lab techniques and procedures. Proficient in gas and ion chromatography mass spectrometry, spectrophotometry and other analytical applications. Must be detail oriented, with effective organizational, communication and administrative skills, including MS Office. Self starter, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment necessary.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a drug screen and background check prior to employment.
Salary range: $24.12 – 39.42/hr. The District offers a comprehensive benefit package including 100% paid medical/dental premiums in meeting wellness program guidelines.
