The South Adams County Water & Sanitation District (SACWSD), dedicated to providing affordable and sustainable water resources to its customers.

A Brief History

The South Adams County Water and Sanitation District (SACWSD) was formed in 1953 – prior to Commerce City becoming a city. It’s presently the largest water district in the state of Colorado which covers 65 square miles, and serves approximately 50,000 customers. The District is also in the “forefront” of other cities and Districts in successfully supplying the best water and wastewater service in Colorado.

The District also has one of the nation’s largest separate irrigation systems in the northern area of Commerce City. This separate system provides non-potable alluvial well water to residential, commercial, and industrial customers for irrigation and other non-potable uses.

The District moved into its new administrative office in November 2012.

The District Today

The District is developing water supplies which will be capable of providing up to 27,000 acre-ft. of water per year. This development allows us to serve approximately 54,000 ERUs.

The District is also building one of the nation’s largest separate irrigation systems in the northern area of Commerce City. This separate system provides non-potable alluvial well water to residential, commercial, and industrial customers for irrigation and other non-potable uses.
